A Fun Way to Learn Science
As part of a recent Science exercise, Mrs. Dani Hruby's 5th graders identified items in "mystery bags" using physical properties alone (mass, volume, texture, etc.). What a creative way to make a lesson come alive!
The Joy of a Bus Ride!
On a very chilly Friday, October 14th, grades K thru 5 bundled up and took a school-wide field trip to the Country Bumpkin Farm Market in Wisconsin Dells! During their visit, students took a wagon ride to select their own pumpkins, husked corn cobs to see the brilliant colors inside, fed a variety of farm animals including goats, llamas, ducks and donkeys, and played lots of yard games (not to mention, they all got to ride the bus together). Oh, what fun!
Ballroom Dancing in Kindergarten?
It sure looks like it! Actually, it's just Mae Sleaper (K) and James Arduini (K) having some innocent fun during playtime at school! You can just feel their joy, can't you?!
Our Souls are Fragile!
Mrs. Hruby's 5th grade class recently participated in a fun exercise to illustrate the important responsibility we have to care for our souls. Students were challenged to care for an egg for 24 hours to draw some very important parallels. What did they learn about souls? They’re very fragile!
Election Day at St. Al's!
St. Aloysius School has elections today for Student Government! It's an exciting day of campaigning with posters and speeches - who will our winners be? Candidates for President Candidates for Vice-President
Puzzle Solved!
Mrs. Kruchten's 1st grade class is allowed "academic playtime" each day to learn board games, solve puzzles and practice working together. Here (from L to R) Walter Brunken, Brooks Ludwig, and Wilson Wuerger proudly display the 48-piece puzzle they completed together! Good job, boys!
Student Government Elections Heat Up!
St. Aloysius School student government elections will be held this coming Friday, September 30th. Candidates will deliver speeches to the student body, then those in 2nd grade and up will vote for their favorite 4th and 5th grade candidates. Those elected will represent the student body and work on organizing fundraisers, school activities and leading assemblies with Principal Miss Daniela. How could you make a voting decision with all of the compelling reasons listed on election posters like these? Best of luck to all!

Free as a Butterfly!
"Miss Kim" Hruby's Kindergarten class been "babysitting" caterpillars until they ready to become beautiful butterflies. On September 9th, the class experienced its first hatch - on the same day as Aide Miss Emily's birthday! Once the butterfly learned how to use her wings, Miss Emily helped the students release the butterfly in Mary's Garden on the school grounds. What a beautiful experience for everyone (especially the butterfly)!
Summer 2022 - Battle of the Books
Every summer, Mrs. Hruby challenges students to participate in a "Battle of the Books" competition to keep kids reading while school is out of session. This past summer, 16 students in grades 4-6 took on the challenge! Participants broke out into teams of 3-4 students, read a total of 12 books, then tested their knowledge of these books in a scavenger hunt and a genre sorting game! Our winning team scored 35 out of 36 points! Now that's a group of smarties!
