What this website collects, where it goes, and how to reach us about it.
St. Aloysius School keeps this website simple. Most pages only show information. This notice explains the few places where information about you is involved.
The chat assistant
The Ask Luigi button opens Luigi, the website’s chat assistant. Luigi is an AI program, not a person: he answers from the information on this website, and his answers can be wrong. For anything important, check with the school office. The chat is meant for parents, families and other visitors; students should ask a parent or teacher.
When you ask a question, the website sends it, together with the earlier questions and answers in the same chat, to OpenAI, the company that makes the GPT AI models, which writes the answer. The website asks OpenAI not to keep the conversation for later retrieval, and OpenAI processes it under its own API terms and privacy policy. Please do not type private matters, such as a child’s health, grades or family situation, into the chat. Luigi cannot see student records or any school system.
The conversation is kept only in your browser tab, so that it continues as you move between pages. It is deleted when you close the tab or choose Start over. The website does not keep a copy of what you ask or of the answers; its records note only the size of each answer, to keep track of costs.
To prevent abuse, the chat uses Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a person rather than an automated program is using it, usually without asking you to do anything. Cloudflare processes information about your browser and connection for that check under its own privacy policy. To limit abuse and cost, the website also counts questions from each internet connection for one hour. It stores only a scrambled, one-way code made from your network address, never the address itself.
If Luigi offers to send your question to the school office, a short form appears in the chat. Only what you enter in that form (your name, an email address or phone number, and your message) is sent, by email through our email provider, Resend, to the school office, which replies to you. Nothing is sent until you choose Send to the office.
The contact form
The message form on the Contact page sends your name, email address, phone number if you give one, and message to the school office by email through Resend. The website does not keep a copy. It uses Cloudflare Turnstile in the same way as the chat.
Giving online
Online gifts are paid on Stripe’s own payment page. Your card or bank details go to Stripe and never reach this website, and Stripe handles the information you give on its page underits own privacy policy. Gifts are received by Divine Mercy Parish for the school. The website keeps no record of gifts: when a gift is made, it emails you a receipt and the school office a notice, both through Resend.
Visiting the website
The website is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes network requests to deliver pages and protect the site. Links to FACTS (the Family Portal and applications), social media and other services take you to those providers, whose own privacy policies apply. We do not sell personal information or use it for advertising.
