The early bird gets the… leaf?!

This fall, many students have spent their recesses on the lookout for all sorts of winged critters. We’ve found moths, butterflies, a praying mantis, and now a leaf! Well, a leaf bug, that is.

It was so well disguised that many students didn’t even notice it as they walked out to morning recess, until one student noticed the leaf was walking! It was adorable, green, and surprisingly flat. The kids took turns holding it and made a home for it near one of our maple trees. What fun!
